Check our new look!
As we begin the new year, we at Schools for Children thought it a perfect time to re-introduce ourselves. This newsletter launches that effort, along with a new look. The newsletter was renamed SFC Connects, first because we strongly believe in the power of community in creating a successful learning environment. This requires building lasting connections among students, staff, parents, service providers, district personnel, donors and more. Second, we chose SFC Connects as it will depict the core principles that connect our schools and programs to each other and to compelling educational practices. As an organization dedicated to a wide range of schools and educational programming, we have created a mission graphic (included below) to explain the scope of our efforts. On behalf of Schools for Children, and our individual schools (Dearborn Academy, Seaport Academy, Lesley Ellis School, Dearborn STEP, and Winn Brook Extended Learning), we invite you to connect with and join us in that mission.
Until next time,

How SFC transforms lives
Our Rebrand
MODERN | BOLD | FLEXIBLE
When Schools for Children set out to rebrand, our intention was to reflect our organization’s ability to lead at the cutting edge of education’s ever-evolving landscape.
We were fortunate to find the talented design team at Talooka Studio, based in Washington, D.C.
FROM THE DESIGNERS
Our goal was to craft a design that represented all children, not just the youngest, while reflecting the organization’s inclusive, child-first values. Taking a modern, forward-thinking approach, we created a minimalist yet meaningful logo that emphasizes stability, accessibility, and a commitment to growth.
The contrasting orange “for” radiates warmth and vibrancy, symbolizing a dynamic, engaging learning environment. Orange also captures creativity and a child-friendly energy, and the navy blue communicates trust, stability, and intelligence—key values at the heart of the organization’s mission.
The monogram “sfc” condenses the brand’s identity into a sleek, versatile form, perfect for smaller applications like social media. We retained the curved “f” from the wordmark to bring a sense of motion and growth, while the orange underscore grounds and uplifts the “c,” signifying support for children.
Collaborating on the new logo design to represent such meaningful work was an exciting journey!
