Beno Joins Staff as CFO

Beverly M. Beno of Lowell, Mass., has been hired as the chief financial officer at Schools for Children. As CFO, Ms. Beno will manage the accounting, finance, audit, financial reporting, human resources, investment and budgeting functions for the nonprofit. She will be responsible also for fiscal analysis, financial services development and the physical plant and facilities, which include five Boston-area schools and programs as well as a headquarters in Winchester, Mass.

 

Ms. Beno brings a strong knowledge of special education programming and over 20 years of experience working in the business offices of educational nonprofits and collaboratives. Most recently, she served as director of finance and operations at the Concord Area Special Education Collaborative. At CASE, her responsibilities included preparing and supervising a multimillion-dollar annual budget, overseeing bid and procurement activities and providing support to the annual external audit.

 

Ms. Beno also served as finance manager and then executive director at Charms Collaborative in Stoughton, Mass., and as assistant director of operations and finance at The Education Cooperative in Dedham, Mass. In the latter position, Ms. Beno managed daily accounting operations, general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable, among other duties.

Ms. Beno is a graduate of Duke University. She is licensed in Massachusetts as a school business administrator.
