Schools for Children Expands Program Offerings with Acquisition of Winn Brook Child Care Program
mtringali ::: News

Winchester, MA, July 25, 2014 – Schools for Children, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and managing great schools and educational services, has expanded its program offerings with the acquisition of Winn Brook Child Care.

As of July 1, 2014, Winn Brook Child Care will now be owned, operated and financially managed by Schools for Children.

Schools for Children (SFC) helps schools and programs thrive by providing high-quality administrative and professional expertise, while allowing school and program leaders time to focus on education.  This new relationship allows Winn Brook Child Care to focus on the key activities associated with providing high-quality, extended day educational options.  SFC acquired the program to expand its range of services to young people and to draw on WBCC's experiences in the before- and after-school services.

 “Winn Brook Child Care is a natural extension to our programs,” states Dr. Ted Wilson, SFC’s President and Executive Director.  “At SFC, we focus on providing important supports to our programs, so the faculty and administration can focus on what each individual student needs in order to succeed.  Providing support to their day-to-day operations will allow Winn Brook to continue its focus on the educational, social, physical and emotional development of those students they serve.”

Winn Brook currently operates out of the Winn Brook Elementary School located in Belmont, MA. Founded in 1990 by the Winn Brook PTA, the program has tripled in size since 2007 and currently serves 125 children ages 5-9 in grades K – 4 on a daily basis.

Winn Brook will continue to operate as before, offering high quality before- and after-school care to the students at Winn Brook Elementary School.  However, Winn Brook staff and family members will now benefit from the additional resources available to them through Schools for Children, such as organizational resources, professional development opportunities, and collaboration on proven best practices.

“We are excited to become part of the Schools for Children family”, stated Erik Haglund, WBCC Director.  “WBCC has become a member of a stable organization with a well-known and successful history of providing student centered educational services to children. This new relationship will really help us expand our ability to enrich the before- and after-school experiences for each of our children.”
